George Howes, one of the founders of the corporation Harassment Hotline® received his Masters Degree from the University of Southern California and his Bachelors Degree from California State University at Los Angeles introduced an employer complaint system to identify unlawful harassment, discrimination, retaliation, theft, workers’ compensation fraud, and corporate abuse and fraud in the workplace. Following Connecticut’s introduction of mandatory supervisor training for harassment followed by California’s introduction of similar sexual harassment for supervisors Mr. Howes found a little known company in Nevada, LightspeedVT that provides virtual training classroom style education over the Internet.  He envisioned a one-on-one supervisor management program that would help standardize employment practices and might hedge lawsuits that could bring severe financial damage to employers and their employees alike. Thus the introduction of the course known as the Basic Elements of Supervision was born in 2006.
